Raising Communities Capacity
Menter Iaith Conwy’s new project- the Conwy Welsh Social Enterprise Project – is tackling the shortage of services and resources through the medium of Welsh in the county’s communities. The project’s aim is to support these communities by empowering them to transform their current situation. We hope to achieve this by working with groups and networks where the Welsh is the main language, and those who are keen to use the Welsh, to recognize and respond to the opportunities that exist.
CMCCC’s officer will be working with the groups and networks who have previously been formed under Menter Iaith Conwy’s guidance, as well as other communities where the main language is Welsh.
The support would include:
Assist communities and special interest groups to identify the needs and the gaps in Welsh medium provision in their area.
Assist the communities to form enterprises capable of implementing their plans.
Work with the communities to create realistic and achievable development schemes to answer their needs. These would be specific projects e.g. develop community recording studios, children’s nurseries and welsh playing clubs, shops and community pubs, all with Welsh as the main language.
Help and support to create detailed schemes with clear development steps to ensure successful schemes and enterprises. This will be done alongside the community to ensure capacity development and the transfer of skills.
Support with identifying suitable funding streams and to apply for grant money.
Contact the multi-sector organizations who assist the enterprises to assure the most effective support and guidance.
By developing local enterprises there will be more opportunities to create new jobs and encourage entrepreneurship within Welsh speaking communities and amongst those who would like to use Welsh. This will ensure that the language has a strong foundation as an economic skill. It will also be a way of empowering Welsh speaking communities and of fostering an enterprising spirit amongst the residents.
By working closely with the communities there will be a chance to develop skills, confidence and entrepreneurship which will be a base to strengthen the local economy in a sustainable and long term way.
The work will start in September. If you would like any further details please contact Eirian Pierce Jones on 01492 642357 or via e-mail on eirian@menteriaithconwy.cymru 247.net
This is the Old Station building in Llanrwst which is a centre-point to a scheme which will be developing the building as a multi use resource centre including recording studio facilities and performing space. The intention is to offer various opportunities in performing industry, as well as in other fields, all through the medium of Welsh. This is one of CMCCC’s schemes and a trigger to discuss opportunities for new schemes with other communities.
Local Action
We believe that a good understanding of the county is essential for us to be effective. To achieve this we need to establish 6 o 7 local action groups within the county. This will let us see what is needed to in specific areas to safeguard and develop the Welsh Language. We already established many groups;
· Penmaenmawr a Llanfairfechan, Pen-lan
· Llandudno a’r Cylch, Y Creuddyn
· Dyffryn Conwy ( A Welsh Language Board project)
· Between Dyffryn Conwy a Chlwyd, Y Berferddwlad
· Abergele
· Penmachno
· Uwch Aled
Cynllun Awyr Agored

Hyfforddiant Awyr Agored
Mae Menter Iaith Conwy yn chwilio am unigolion Cymraeg sydd yn dymuno ennill cymwysterau yn y diwydiant awyr agored. Fe fedrwn helpu pobl y tu allan i Gonwy.
Os oes gennych chi ddiddordeb mewn gweithio yn y diwydiant awyr agored gysylltwch â Bedwyr ap Gwyn ar bedwyr@menteriaithconwy.cymru247.net neu 01492 642357.
Fe fyddwn yn chwilio am ffynonellau cyllid ar gyfer eich hyfforddi yn eich camp.
Er enghraifft yn ddiweddar cawsom swm sylweddol i hyfforddi arweinwyr mynydd, ac hefyd i hyfforddi hyfforddwyr syrffio.
Be bynnag yw eich diddordeb o gerdded i ddringo, beicio i ganŵio fe wnawn ein gorau i’ch cymhwyso yn eich camp.
Y rheswm pam rydym yn awyddus i neud hyn yw:
Roedd canlyniad Astudiaeth ddiweddar gan Brifysgol Bangor yn dangos bod prinder mawr yn y nifer o siaradwyr Cymraeg sy’n gweithio o fewn y diwydiant antur awyr agored yn y gogledd Orllewin; gyda dim ond 5% yn medru’r Gymraeg. Felly fel adwaith i hyn mae Menter Iaith Conwy yn ceisio newid y sefyllfa trwy gymhwyso mwy o Gymru Cymraeg yn y maes gan greu cyflogaeth gynaliadwy lleol, a chymreigio’r diwydiant awyr agored yng Nghymru.
