Stomp Farddol
Cynhaliwyd ein stomp flynyddol ar Nos Wener Mehefin 17eg, ac roedd llond y lle yn y Felin Brwcws ar gyfer noson hwyliog braf. Roedd digon o chwerthin i’w glywed wrth i’r cystadleuwyr John Glyn Jones, Haf Llewelyn, Arwel Emlyn Jones, Gruffudd Antur a Les Baker ein diddori. Y Stompfeistr eleni oedd Arwel ‘Pod’ Roberts, a wnaeth yn arbennig i gadw trefn ar y beirdd a sicrhau i’r noson redeg yn esmwyth! Er bod y noson yn llawn o farddoniaeth wych, Arwel Emlyn Jones oedd yn fuddugol a chipiodd stôl y stomp - stôl bren wedi ei wneud a’i roi’n hael i’r digwyddiad gan Alun Jones (Bwyellwyr Clwyd), Fferm Bryn Isa’. Hoffai’r Fenter ddiolch i Lenyddiaeth Cymru am eu nawdd ag y Felin Brwcws am y lleoliad a hefyd i bawb a wnaeth fynychu’r digwyddiad a chyfrannu at yr hywl. Diolch yn fawr.

The competition was a great success with nearly 50 children competing. However there could be only one winner and the correct name, Dafydd, was chosen by Emily Reid of Rhyl. Patagonia Concert
As part of their effort to raise money for their journey to Patagonia, Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych organised a concert at the Town Hall in Denbigh on Thursday April 30th. A number of very talented local artists performed on the night and the concert was a great success. All the money raised on the night will go towards the voluntary journey of Urdd Gobaith Cymru and Mentrau Iaith y Gogledd to Patagonia in October 2009.
The seven who have been chosen to go from local schools have been busy raising money in a number of small projects. These projects have included selling tea and cakes at the local Eisteddfod and doing a sponsored walk from Abergwyngregyn to Aberffraw. This was a 12 mile walk over three days starting in Gwynedd and finishing in Anglesey.
This hard work will continue over the next months as the young people hope to reach their personal target of £1,500. In Patagonia the young people will take part in voluntary work within the Welsh schools in Patagonia. This work will include running different workshops and distributing Welsh books and materials to the Schools in Patagonia.
The journey’s purpose is to foster a closer relationship between Wales and Patagonia, to learn about the differences and similarities between our cultures and to show the people of Patagonia that the Welsh language is alive among the young people of Wales.
Brigyn Workshop
For three days in October the band Brigyn held a music workshop in three schools in Rhyl. The band let the children use computer software to record their own music. They used keyboards, guitars and voice to create creative material. The three schools were Ysgol Bryn Hedydd, Ysgol Dewi Sant and Ysgol Llywelyn. The workshops were funded by communities first and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The three days were a huge success with the children.

"Awards For All Wales" Grant for Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych
Primary and secondary schools in Denbigh in partnership with Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych (Denbighshire Welsh Language Initiative) were successful recently in obtaining funding from Awards For All Wales, Heritage Lottery Fund and Denbighshire County Council to hold heritage and language mural workshops with local artist Wendy Lawrence.
The workshop offers the children a chance to communicate through the medium of Welsh and create a piece of work that will be put on public display when Theatr Twm o’r Nant reopens at the end of the year. It also offers the children the opportunity to learn about Welsh heritage and Welsh history.
This is the first time that Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych have had the opportunity to do a mural project with Denbigh schools and this is of great benefit to the local children and young people. Menter Iaith will be creating another mural with the public (over 18 only) during Sunday 22nd June at the Town Hall as part of the Denbigh Mid Summer Festival. This project is funded by a grant awarded by Cadwyn Clwyd. Menter Iaith is very grateful for all the grants received, without these, the mural projects would not take place.

Welsh for the Family
Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin and Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych working in partnership to deliver Welsh for the Family and to raise awareness of our heritage
Recently Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin in partnership with Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych (Denbighshire Welsh Language Initiative) were successful in obtaining funding from the Children and Young people’s partnership in Denbighshire to hold three Welsh for the
Family courses within Ti a Fi groups in Rhyl, Upper Denbigh and Glyndyfrdwy.
The Welsh for Families scheme offers training over 6-12 sessions for parents on simple Welsh language patterns based on everyday situations that arise in the home. It also offers parents the opportunity to learn songs and Welsh rhymes in addition to adopting skills to enable them to read simple stories to their children in Welsh.
This year for the first time the Welsh Language initiative have secured a follow up course by inviting Nia Williams in at the end of the course to create a craft exhibition on traditional Welsh nursery rhymes.
“Wales has a wealth of folk songs and nursery rhymes passed down from generation to generation", said Nia.
"And we will be making a collage in each session that ill be brought together at the end to create an exhibition.”

This is the second year for Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin to endure funding from the Partnership and this development shows that working in Partnership is an advantage for local children and young people.
